02 / HOW STANCHIONS WORK

One system.
Several clear jobs.

A stanchion is a weighted post that holds a retractable belt, a velvet rope or a sign. Arrange several posts to form a queue, mark an entrance, close a temporary area or direct guests to the right place.

Retractable belts connect quickly and can be moved as a line changes. Velvet ropes create a softer, more formal boundary. Sign holders add directions exactly where guests need them.

More planning notes ↗
How do I get a stanchion rental quote in NYC?

Start with whatever you know: event date, venue or neighborhood, rental items, rough quantities or delivery timing. If access details such as stairs, a loading dock or a freight elevator are available, they help us quote faster.

Should I choose retractable belts or velvet ropes?

Retractable belts suit guest check-in and queues that change shape. Velvet ropes create a more formal entrance for galas, weddings and photographed arrivals. Both can be included in one request.

How many stanchions do I need?

For a straight run, divide the run length by your planned spacing, round up, then add one end post. Use about 6 ft spacing for 8 ft belts or about 4 ft for 5 ft ropes. If you are unsure, send an approximate length and we can help estimate.

What affects the final rental price?

The equipment, quantity, rental duration, venue location, delivery windows and setup needs all affect the quote. We’ll reply with availability, delivery details and the rental total for your event.

Can I request delivery in my NYC borough?

A Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx or Staten Island address helps us price delivery. If you do not have the exact venue yet, the borough or neighborhood is enough to start.

Is sending a quote request a confirmed booking?

No. A quote request starts the conversation. We’ll reply with availability, rental terms, delivery options and the steps to reserve equipment when you are ready.

Can one request include belts, ropes, carpets and signs?

Yes. List every category you are considering in one request. A conference may need belt stanchions and signs, while a VIP entrance may add rope stanchions and a carpet runner.

Can stanchions or barriers be used outdoors?

Some barrier systems may suit approved outdoor layouts. The surface, wind exposure, public access, venue rules and ballast requirements should be reviewed before final placement.

Can sign holders be added to a rental?

The catalog includes post-mounted sign toppers and free-standing sign stands. They can mark line starts, registration types, entrances, restricted areas or other guest decisions.

Do you offer rentals for stadiums and after-parties?

Yes. The collection can support stadium entry lanes, sporting-event checkpoints, guest-list check-in, VIP arrivals and after-show venue transitions, subject to availability and the approved venue plan.
